This is a symbiotic relationship, up to a point. Each party benefits, though no money is earned. Advertisers solve that problem. They buy the attention accumulated by the creator and pay with money.
Major companies spend billions of dollars on advertising each year in order to interrupt people for a chance at getting attention for their products.
Writers get that for free. They have tens of thousands of people raising their hands to say, “Sign me up. I want to read everything you write. You have my attention.”
if you're insanely talented at something but nobody gets it, it's worth paying someone who's insanely talented at marketing/comms to translate, frame, package that talent into something that people appreciate
