Sam Lessin: Web 3.0 is — at the most abstract level — really about right-sizing communities to a scale people can have a sense of personal purpose and place. It is about giving people ownership in meaningful way in the context of the people they want to be with and impressively extending that experience.

The digital dominance of the 21st Century has sorted us into our own tailored versions of online reality, where we drown in ads and information. It's overwhelming, noisy, and ephemeral. It's hard to have a simple conversation, let alone align the globe on a future worth building.

And in the 21st century, “local” doesn’t necessarily have to mean “geographically proximate”. It can also refer to virtual spaces with internet friends who share your interests and passions, but live halfway across the globe. We’ll probably see more of this “digital localism” as Facebook and Google shift their focus to private communications.
