Things I'm thinking about
Quality is about signing your name to your work and being proud of what you ship. It never feels great when what you ship feels more like excuses—a reflection of tight timelines, cut scope and endless constraints.
Some work—such as sales and customer support—really does require fast responses. But in most jobs, any reputational damage you might suffer by being slow (probably less than you think) will be more than compensated for by the increase in time for your most meaningful work.
I wanted a great product that customers would love with high quality and on time—in that order.
