Why? Because four “decided” to jump off. That’s all they did. And there’s a big difference between deciding and doing.
Every act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to one’s self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily; and why older persons, especially if vain or important, cannot learn at all.
“Oh,” I said, “I don’t need any of them. I want them…”
So, the truth is you don’t need a coach. In fact, nobody needs a coach. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. But if you want to increase your own impact and income as a coach, you might want one.
“Because when you fish without bait, people don’t bother you, and neither do the fish. It provides me my best time to think.”
So in coaching the trick for me was to find a way to make as many of my activities be lunch pail, blue collar activities as I could.
Pleasing others is the real reason why people don’t succeed. And in the end pleasing others doesn’t win any respect from them either.
