The saints and prophets are those who make a lasting contribution to civilization and humanity through new forms of art, literature, music, architecture, and society, above all by indicating and embodying the work of the soul.

The simple fact is that the most significant, satisfying, and enduring experiences that we have are experiences of meaning found through relationships with other human beings, with ourselves, and ultimately with something much greater than ourselves.

We are souls in progress, integrating into ourselves the invisible qualities and virtues of a spiritual reality that is our birthright.

This perception of the condition of humanity is not elitism. In this view there is no judging others as inferior and imagining oneself to be superior. That would be just another aspect of this state of sleep we are referring to. The presence of the soul is beyond such judging.

this desire to gain the approval of others leads us further and further away from our inner being, our essential self.

Soul is what our inner being feels like when Spirit is the active force and the self is receptive to it. Then our attention is guided by Spirit rather than merely reacting to circumstance.

The ego’s strategies attempt to avoid reality, but obviously there is a price to pay for denying reality. In the end, the ego will prove to be its own worst enemy. The harm the ego does, it does mostly to itself.
