A vital component of a man’s sexual recovery is to learn techniques to assist him in reducing the anxiety he experiences when emotions arise so he can remain engaged instead of simply being present.

Men who grow up not learning to engage in a healthy way emotionally with other people will often become anxious when placed in social environments. They lack the confidence to be able to carry on conversations. More importantly, they subconsciously worry about being rejected if they allow people to get too emotionally close.

“They don’t teach you how you could have handled that situation differently. Instead, they ground you, or they yell at you, or they blame it on your teacher, letting you off the hook.

The inner child with low emotional intelligence lacks awareness of his surroundings and the people in it.

To become emotionally intimate, they will need to learn how to keep their heads upright so they can be aware of the needs and desires of those around them and recognize opportunities where they can engage in genuine community.

Feelings were never discussed in this home, and if any were presented, they were quickly shut down or dismissed.

What’s ironic is men crave emotional intimacy and connection – they do not realize it.
