Expect Great Things, Attempt Great Things

Faith always moves toward the best. Within your spirit is the dream to reach the best. The challenge is that it is unreachable until you give up the good. There is comfort and familiarity with the good.

Confession, he wrote, “puts God to work fulfilling His promise” and brings believers’ words into reality. He likened the process to a game of checkers: “Our move is to expect what he promises … before we see the healing.… He always moves when it is His turn.”

But . . . if the Gospels were truly the pattern of God’s activity, then defeat was only the beginning. I would look around at the bare little cell and wonder what conceivable victory could come from a place like this.

Anything less than such proactivity is a cheap imitation of the life you were meant to live. It’s stalling. Instead of letting it stop you in your tracks, why not do what Jonathan did and pivot in a new direction? You might be surprised by the opportunities that present themselves.
