DAOs as novelty search engines

DAOs believe “ask the audience” is the winning strategy, and if you set up the right decision-making systems, collective wisdom is greater than individual vision.

We conclude that while DAOs are not organisations (in a traditional sense), they are collectives exhibiting some degree of organisationality which they enact through communication events and processes.

Since DAOs are blockchain-based organizations that usually are not tied to a corporate entity, they leave a lot of room for rapid experimentation in organization and incentive design. Members can collectively source an idea, funnel collectively managed resources toward shared goals, iterate, and ship with rapid speed.

DAO’s existed before (guilds, labor unions). They can do certain things very well but some decisions are hard to make, like competition with another entity, coordination of action beyond initial purposes of the organization
