I’d protest that this book has never been about opposing the New York Times but about pursuing the same mission to which the paper is dedicated—unearthing the truth. But no matter how wholehearted it was, the strength of that argument could not overcome an evidently widespread fear of the cultural and political behemoth that is the New York Times.
