the only practical advice given about living a meaningful life is to find a job you like, enjoy your marriage, and obey God. It’s as though God is saying, Write a good story, take somebody with you, and let me help.

Next, to free yourself of the past so you can love today, you forgive those who have hurt you. You then start thinking loving thoughts and acting in loving ways, and loving feelings will start coming.

Paul almost single-handedly spread Christianity throughout the Roman Empire. His secret was a focused life. He said, “I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”14
