Aave’s treasury contains an overweight AAVE position that provides exposure to the future success and upside in the token price. However, the associated volatility and downside risks are not desirable. As such, Aave is exploring ways to reduce exposure to any meaningful deterioration in market conditions. 

As Vitalik Buterin notes in a recent essay exploring non-financial use cases of crypto, “blockchains are just a really convenient place to store stuff.”

Create an incentive to hold the coin, sustaining its value.

Web3 is about Proof of Work - someone’s wallet and their activity on the blockchain is their online identity and the proof of the work they’ve done on chain. This can be used to hire, evaluate their investments, their community memberships and affiliations.
