“Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything we may have done that transgressed our duty: establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith.”

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah139 with willing submission,140 and feel themselves subdued.

We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility.

Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped?

What is the life of this world but play and amusement?

He makes the night for rest and tranquillity, and the sun and moon for the reckoning (of time):

In whatever business you may be, and whatever portion you may be reciting from the Qur’ān,—and whatever deed you (mankind) may be doing,—We are witnesses thereof

the Unbelievers say: “These are nothing but tales of the ancients.”

my Lord is (always) near, ready to answer.”
