Rise of the Next-Gen CFO: The Evolution of Finance’s Role and Tech Stack

Today’s finance leaders need to be equipped with a strong understanding of technology to enable them to scale their team and the rest of the organization. A revolution is coming — one where innovative solutions will redefine not only the way finance teams will manage company financials, but their very roles within the organization.

Most of the CFO tools built in recent years have focused on transacting and record-keeping. Many of those existing finance products are rife with problems.

The CFO role is plagued by manual, repetitive tasks, from initiating bank transfers to recording checks into the ledger.

I’m particularly bullish in the forecasting/planning and billing/invoicing subsectors as more companies in both the mid market and SMB will want easier ways to transact with their customers and plan for the future. Typically these functions have been reserved for the enterprise, but I believe that will change.
