36. Re-bundling the creator economy + labels in web3 w/ Yancey Strickler

What the internet allows us to do is to see what we have in common. This resulted in a new experience of what it means to be a person. We have multiple lenses and identities ready to be activated at any given moment. They are meaningful. Digital avatars are just as meaningful to us as other identities.

By having that freedom you can find the spaces you align the most with.The desires of the post-individual are different than what we had in the past.

Imagining a world where a metalabel is a common paradigm that people create. Where the output is a little bit slower. Where there is more deliberation, more pairs of eyes on things. I think it’s just a healthier experience.

We are fulfilling our desires together with other people. Anti-thesis to “I’m going to Hollywood and going to make it”, the single dream of making it.

The ways to provide context on our digital profiles (e.g. Linktree) are very limited. The creator economy does a poor job at that.

A core strategy of what we build at Metalabel is based on the assumption that CONTEXT is queen.

Web3 is about the freedom to opt-in to systems and to opt-out of them.

Post-individuals have a desire to belong, to be seen and recognised beyond economic compensation or status. As an answer to the individualism of the creator economy, metalabels are a new paradigm where groups of people team up under a shared purpose to create public releases that manifest their point of view.
